These two images are quite similar, the original, on the left, of U2 was the basis for my image as I was trying to create a version of U2. The poses of the models are similar to those of the U2 band members and one is gazing away from the viewer which suggests individuality and non-conformity. This also connotes an air of attitude and confidence which audiences and fans alike have come to expect of U2. They are established and cool and have consistently maintain an air of nonchalance throughout their career which mirrors their immense success.
I used a high exposure in mine, to try and make the black and white contrast more. I also made my image into a medium shot, instead of a medium long shot. I made sure my models wore the same type of clothing as U2 as this is a key part of their image.
The black and white connotes drama, art and emotion far more than a colour image could and I thought this was the bet way to represent the aloofness of the band. They are 'ordinary' guys but at the same time, they are internationally famous and need to retain that sense of distance from their audiences so that their fans can look up to them. This is one of the reasons Bono always wears shades.

My magazine is aimed at high and middle class readers, so ABC1 mainly and I kept this in mind when composing my images, page layout and text. It also represents a distinctly male readership with its title, masthead, colour scheme and contents.
